Over $18,000 Raised To Help Troops Call Home
Michael Angelo's Pizza raised over $18,000 for their "We Support Our Troops" fundraiser event, easily passing the goal of $10,000. The funds were a blend of 100% of pizza sales at the Michael Angelo's Pizza in Kenton, monetary donations from the communities of Kenton & Rushsylvania, and 100% of pizza rain check sales from both pizzeria locations. Pizza & Rain check sales accounted for about $15,800 of the amount with the rest coming from monetary donations.
Over $4,500 was used to buy phone cards through the Military Exchange Service for our local soldiers serving overseas, giving each soldier approximately 20 hours of call time, hopefully enough to get them through their entire tour. These cards are already purchased and on the way.

With such an overwhelming turnout and much more than we could use just for our handful of local soldiers, we have donated $12,000 to VFW Operation Uplink. This VFW program provides phone cards to soldiers serving overseas and injured soldiers recovering in hospitals and nursing homes - free of charge. Our donation will provide phone cards from Operation Uplink to our local soldier's entire units - still keeping our money as local as we can.

Also - anyone can request that a phone card be sent to their loved one or family member serving overseas through this program, just visit operationuplink.org to make your request.
The remainder of the proceeds will go toward Christmas "Thank You" gifts for local families of soldiers who are serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Congratulations to David Parker, winner of the raffle for the painting donated by Marilyn Reed of Marilyn's Artistry and framed by Todd Baldwin of the Old Coots Place.
Michael Angelo's to Hold "We Support our Troops" Fundraiser
On Saturday December 8th, 2007 Michael Angelo's Pizza, will host our 1st annual “We Support Our Troops” fundraiser event. Michael Angelo's Pizza will donate 100% of all money generated by the sale of our pizza to:
1.Purchase international phone cards through the VFW Ohio Charities so that our brave men and women serving overseas can call home to their families during the Christmas season (phone calls home are at the expense of the troops and very costly).
2.Purchase a Christmas Dinner, gas cards, gift cards and so forth for recent veterans and those families that are left behind here in Hardin County and surrounding areas.
Our goal is to raise at least $10,000 and intend on making this an annual event for as long as our troops are serving us abroad.
In addition to raising money, we are going to building a Christmas basket for our recent veterans and those families that are left behind while their Husbands/Wives/Moms/Dads are serving our country. We hope to fill these baskets full of free and discounted goods and services from local businesses.
While we hope for a huge turnout on December 8th, we understand that many people may have other plans, be out of town, or just not be in the mood for pizza that day. So will will be offering “raincheck” coupons for our special that we will be running – an Xlarge Pizza with One topping for $9.99. This will allow you have your money go toward the fundraiser and then enjoy your pizza at your convenience. These coupons will also make great Christmas gifts.
We are all very blessed to live in the greatest nation on the earth – the United States of America, and I ask you to join in and help give those who fight to keep us safe a very big Thank You! Please contact me, Michael Shepherd, if you can help out by donating a product, gift card, service, or discount or in any way, shape or form at 419-673-7101 or my direct number 888-378-6488 or email me at michael@michael-angelos.com.
Also, if you know of anyone from our area currently serving please contact me with their contact information, if we have their unit name/number we can make sure that the phone cards get to them.
